NEVADA- Senator Mike Lee has withdrawn his third version of his attempt to sell up to 1.2 million acres of public lands. The Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee accepted his original proposal to sell up to 2.5 million acres of Bureau of Land Management and United States Forest Service Land within eleven western states.

Today, Secretary of the Interior Haaland issued Secretarial Order 3398. This order will help ensure our public lands and waters are managed for all stakeholders and takes a great step forward in transitioning the nation to net-zero emissions.

The Nevada Wildlife Federation was interviewed on KRNV regarding the End of Speculative Leasing Act 2023. A majority of Nevada’s public lands are at risk of being tied up through speculative oil and gas leasing. Thanks to Senator Cortez Masto, this problem is being addressed.

On Tuesday, November 15, at 10:00AM, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) announced an Instruction Memorandum calling for increased collaboration between BLM state offices and state wildlife departments to include habitat connectivity in future wildlife management.
