(Washington, D.C.) - Today, the Climate Action Campaign and the Nevada Wildlife Federation announced Representative Susie Lee received the first annual “Climate Change-Maker” award for her climate leadership in raising the urgency of federal investments in climate, justice, clean energy, and jobs.

The Climate Change-Maker Award will also be presented six lawmakers, including: [House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (CA-12), Senator Catherine Cortez-Masto (NV), Senator Tina Smith (MN), Chair Kathy Castor (FL-14), Rep. Susie Lee (NV-03), and Rep. Susan Wild (PA-07).]

“Nevada is at the epicenter of the climate crisis, and we need to do everything we can,” said Rep. Lee. “I’ve been working day in and day out in Congress to combat climate change not only in our state, but across the country. I am honored to receive the Climate Change-Maker Award. I am looking forward to continuing to work with the Climate Action Campaign and the Nevada Wildlife Federation to preserve our natural resources and create a more sustainable and cleaner economy for all Americans.”

“Climate change is making extreme weather more frequent and severe, which could have devastating impacts on women and families. Now is not the time to delay bold climate action and critical climate investments that will create jobs and protect Nevada families from the volatile and dangerous fossil fuel economy. That’s why we are excited to present Rep. Lee with the first-annual Climate Change-Maker award and are incredibly grateful for her leadership to put Nevada and the country on the path to a healthier future,” said Grace Palermo, board member of the Nevada Wildlife Federation.

The 2022 Climate Change-Maker Award recipients were chosen based on their climate leadership and dogged advocacy, and their work with President Biden and their colleagues in Congress to champion critical investments in our clean energy economy and cut the carbon pollution that exacerbates climate change.
