Nevada — On Friday, November 4, 10:00AM, a roundtable panel consisting of nonprofits, business owners and energy representatives discussed ways Nevada is educating and implementing sustainable energy in Nevada via a webinar.

Nevada is ranked #1 in solar energy potential and our state is taking strides in sustainable energy development. Topics covered in the webinar included how education, public outreach and advancing technology will contribute to Nevada’s transition to renewable energy.

“It's an honor to participate on panels such as these since collaboration and communication across all sectors is critical in achieving Nevada's sustainable energy goals and preparing the future workers for these clean energy careers" says Vanessa Robertson, M.A Executive Director Envirolution.

"The City of Reno appreciates the opportunity to share with like-minded organizations and community members. Accessing clean energy is vital to the City's overall emissions reduction goal. We can lead by example in this space through partnerships, education, and experience." says Suzanne Groneman, Sustainability Program Manager

“Our future is so bright. It's why I work and stay here” says Marie Steele, Vice President of Electrification and Energy Services for NV Energy. “When we think of what we can transition in that decarbonization strategy. If we can transition our transportation fuel to the renewable energy that Nevada already has, that opportunity will help the economy and our environment. We are also making sure that we're reaching our low income and historically underserved communities as well, and bringing them on this energy transition. I'm really positive about the future, and where it's going.”

In talking about the direction of sustainable energy, Travis Miller, Owner of Great Basin Solar states, “Our grid infrastructure is based on one hundred year old technology, and we're at this kind of turning point where we're now looking at other ways to develop the grids, other ways to store power. It could be game changers, for the state as a whole, and that's a critical component for the next step of the evolution.”
