ALERT WE NEED FOLKS TO ATTEND TUESDAY, MARCH 14
ALERT WE NEED FOLKS TO ATTEND TUESDAY. Our paid lobbyists have been telling legislators about this army of sportsmen they represent — let’s not disappoint them!!!!!
The legislature is in full swing and a lot is happening at a fast pace. AB 101 has already passed in the Assembly committee but hasn’t been heard by the Assembly yet. We have been fighting this bill tooth and nail as it completely changes how our $3 predator fee is to be spent. NDOW legislative committee which is chaired by Jeremy Drew has also opposed this bill but our state wildlife commission hasn’t been able to act on it yet.
Next, we are having a hearing this coming Tuesday on SJR11 as you know this is the bill that passed the legislature last session and it needs to pass this session before it can be added to the ballot. SJR11 in the bill Nevada’s Constitution to make it a right to hunt, trap and fish in Nevada. The hearing by the Senate of Natural Resources will take place at 1:30 pm and will be video conferenced to both the Grant Sawyer building in Las Vegas and to Elko. We are asking all of those who can to please come in person and help fill up the seats at the Grant Sawyer building and comment on this bill.
The message for this bill is not so much about the merits of the bill but more about letting “We the people” vote on the bill at the ballot box! The Northern Coalition will be testifying in Carson City and the Southern Coalition will be at the Grant Sawyer building while the Eastern Nevada Coalition will be testifying in Elko. Yes, you heard me right!!! We now have an Eastern Coalition for Wildlife and they already have their Facebook page so be sure to like it and follow it.
On Thursday March 16th at 1;30 pm a hearing will be held on SB221 which is the “Public Education Council” which is known by us sportsmen as the Sportsmen Initiative. The concept of this bill is like what has been successful in both Colorado and Michigan and we are trying to get started here in Nevada. Click the link to see what Colorado is doing http://hugahunter.com/ It would be nice to see something like this on our television sets! We need butts in the seats for this bill as well and you can join me at the Grant Sawyer building. If you can’t come in person, please email a letter into the Senate Committee of Natural Resources. I have attached a link for all Senators and Assembly persons. The Senate Committee is Chaired by Yvanna.Cancela@sen.state.nv.us; James.Settelmeyer@sen.state.nv.us; Julia.Ratti@sen.state.nv.us; Mark.Manendo@sen.state.nv.us; Pete.Goicoechea@sen.state.nv.us;

The last item is that we want to Thank Jeremy Bentz President of Nevada Sportsmen Unlimited for their $2500 donation to the Coalition and Steve Linder President of Las Vegas Woods and Waters for their $1000 donation. This money will help go towards our two Lobbyist Joel Blakeslee and Kyle Davis. These guys have been a huge asset to us and have been adamantly fighting for Nevada’s sporting families and Nevada’s wildlife. We are trying to show sportsmen have had enough of emotion plea’s and want decisions based on science.
