Kids’ Fishing Derby hooks their 21st year!

June 5^th-6^th 2010 will be the 21^st year for the Douglas County Kids’ Fishing Derby.  This is a free event for children 3-12 held annually at Lampe Park in Gardnerville, Nevada the first weekend in June.  YOU MUST PREREGISTER!  Registration forms will be available at the Douglas County  Parks Dept located at 1327 Waterloo Rd. in Gardnerville from April 1^st through May 28^th at five pm. The LAST CHANCE REGISTRATION will be on June 1^st-3^rd from noon to 4pm at the Douglas County Parks Annex Building.  There will be absolutely no registrations accepted after June 3^rd, 2010.   There will be 7 sessions available, including a special needs session to be held on Saturday the 5^th of June. The first three sessions for prek are full, but there are plenty of other spots available. 

Don’t forget to buy your pre-derby raffle tickets for our BLOW-OUT raffle drawing that will take place on both days of the derby.  Prizes include mountain bikes, Sportsmans’ Warehouse gift cards and many more!  Raffle tickets are $1.00 each or 6 for $5.00, and may either be purchased at Douglas County Parks Dept., OR by contacting Brian Wood @ 901-2066.  You do not have to be present to win.  All proceeds go directly back into the derby for next year.

VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED TO MAKE THIS A FUN AND SAFE EVENT FOR ALL!  If you are interested in volunteering, (We need 300+ Volunteers) please contact Tammy Lancaster at kfdvolunteers@aol.com, or by telephone at 775- 315-0860. If you are planning on volunteering as river help, and you are between the ages of 13-15, you MUST attend at least one mandatory river help training class. There will be no exceptions. This class is also provided to any adult river help volunteer who would like to learn how to help a youngster experience a day of fishing.   The dates for the training classes are as follows:  Saturday May 22^nd at 10am, Saturday, May 29^th at 9am, and Wednesday June 2nd at 7pm. The mandatory volunteer meetings (these are not to be confused with the river help training classes) are Saturday May 22nd at 9am and Wednesday at 6pm.  If you are unable to attend at least one of the mandatory volunteer meetings, you must contact Tammy Lancaster at the phone number or email address listed above.   ALL TRAINING CLASSES AND VOLUNTEER MEETINGS WILL BE HELD AT LAMPE PARK IN THE PAVILION LOCATED IN GARDNERVILLE.  Volunteer sign up forms will be available until June 2, 2010.
